HAZELTON — The city of Hazelton issued a boil water notice Friday evening asking all residents to boil all drinking water.

The city’s well house is being rebuilt and “a bunch of things came lose in there and contaminated the water,” Hazelton public works director Shawn Burton said shortly after 5 p.m.

Wait, what?

This was Friday. Currently it’s Sunday, and still no news. No report in the paper nor a news flash on KMVT. So who actually knows anymore?

But Hazelton does have issues (besides the drinking water). More than half a million dollars has been embezzled and the city officials can’t quit fast enough. Not to mention 2 deputies from the Jerome County Sheriff’s office live there. One deputy is the mayor while the other deputie’s wife works for the city.

Now I will say that they have every right to live in Hazelton. It just seems like a conflict of interest.

The worst detail of this story is the quote the Times News used for the paper, “a bunch of things came lose in there and contaminated the water,”, and thus the hillbilly stereotype will continue.

PS: Don’t call it a comeback, I’ve been here for years
