TWIN FALLS — Times-News Editor Matt Christensen is leaving his position March 2 to accept a promotion in Iowa.

Christensen — who has been editor since January 2015 — was named executive editor of his hometown newspaper, the Quad-City Times in Davenport, Iowa. It’s the flagship newspaper of Lee Enterprises, which also owns the Times-News.

“I had no plans in the works to leave Twin Falls,” he said Wednesday. “But if there’s one reason to leave, it’s for an opportunity like this.”

Finally the man behind possibly the least relevant media outlet is stepping down. In my life I’ve never seen anything in Twin Falls have its reputation dissolve as quickly as the Times-News. Whether it was outsourcing the writing to the Associated Press or giving every article a liberal bias, his time is up.

Now I realize he’ll tout everything he has done to the Times as a success because of the internet and all that jazz. However that is far from reality. If you were to go out and pick up a paper you’d quickly find out that the paper lacks any substance or objectivity. Without either of these things I ask, what is the point of a newspaper?

But I do wish Matt the best in his endeavour to ruin another paper. I wish I could say the next editor will be better but he/she won’t, it’ll be the next corporate shill.
